Default Instructions for posting on the Surgical Outcomes thread

Dear Friends,

I'm resurrecting a system that I started on another forum years ago. I had started it after recognizing the need to have the data organized, parameterized, and safe. I'm in the process of developing a replacement system that will include standardized formats and parameters. I also hope to add a database driven retrieval system.

For now, let's bring back my original system, started in 2003. Please feel free to comment on reporting system... other parameters that should be captured... presentation format, etc. Comment by replying on this thread.

In order to post,

1. view this thread.

2. Drag your mouse across the entire thread to highlight everything from Surgery date, to the end of the 6 year update.

3. press control-c or click edit/copy - this will copy the entire thread to your cut and paste buffer.

4. click "new thread" up at the top of the forum.

5. Make your new thread titled something like username levels device month year..... as in
mmglobal L4-S1 2-level Charite Sept. 2002

6. Paste the blank form into your post by pressing control-v or by clicking edit/paste

7. Edit the form to answer all questions.

I'll be reposting the old information and contacting as many posters as I can for updates. This will be exciting, because we'll be generating 5 year data.

If I post your information and you would rather not have it shared with the iSpine patient community, simply contact me and I'll remove it.

This is going to be very interesting!

All the best,

Mark

Do I have to wait until I get a surgery date to post on Surgical outcomes? I want to post the events that are leading up to including the WC battles and outcomes.

Hey Racergal... I look forward to hearing of your successful surgery!

My preference for postings would be:

>> WC issues and pre surgery battles discussed in iSpine main forum.

>> Surgery experience recorded in surgery blog section.

>> Surgical outcomes thread will stand as kind of a parameterized recording of outcomes that will (hopefully) allow us to compare apples to apples if we can get everyone to post in the same way.

One of the nice things is that we can do is to link threads together. Call me if you want some help. The tool icon that looks like a globe with 2 chain links in front of is it the insert link tool. Highlight the URL (universal resource locator, or address) from the address bar on your browser. Click control-C to copy it to your cut and paste buffer. Then create a post. Highlight text that you'll want to appear as your link name and click the link tool. Click control-V to past the URL into the dialog box.

If you are a propellerhead like me, you might want to use your own code.

{url=www.globalpatientnetwork.com}Mark's GPN Website{/url}

I used curly braces here instead of square brackets, so the code does not get interpreted. Here is the same thing, correctly coded with square braces.

Mark's GPN Website

Using links, you can have all the important threads you start link to one another.

All the best!

Mark

I tried to update my surgery outcome post, as tomorrow will be my second (!) anniversary, but got an error message that I had too many characters on my post. Is it possible to increase the number of characters? Otherwise, I won't be able to update in the future.

Sahuaro,

I upped the maximum number of characters per post from 10,000 to 15,000. Hopefully, this will be enough for you. (I have rarely run into the limit.) If you still hit the limit.. just split your post into 2.

I look forward to reading your update!
