Default Multiple disc replacement

13 years ago I had a C4/C5 fusion. I did not know it then but over time this causes the discs above and below the fusion to wear down. After 7-8 years of considerable pain, including burning pain in my forearms near the elbow,I have been told that I need need disc replacement of three discs (I believe its two above and one below the fusiion)but artificial discs have not been FDA approved in the US for multiple use -

Does anyone have any information on this? Can anyone recommend a Doctor in the New York area for a second opinion?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Tom,

Sorry for the late reply... If you are a candidate, ADR adjacent to the fusion should reduce the risk of further domino effect. It will be tough to get multi-level ADR next to fusion... not only for insurance issues, but just finding someone that can go so far away from clinical trial guidelines. In NY I like Bitan and Goldstein, but don't have any cervical experience with either of them. For an opinion, they'd be a good place to start.

All the best... please keep us posted.

Mark
