Default C4-5, 5-6 fusion - I put in a little extra bone

Those were the first words my surgeon uttered upon my waking. I have been paying the price ever since.

For year the doctors looked at me like I was crazy too - seems to be a recurring theme here. I wont bother you with details on symptoms other than to say it is quite obvious to me that indeed he did put in extra bone.

I have learned about a procedure called an osteotomy, in which they apparently will re-do a prior fusion. Risky, but have nothing to lose.

Has anyone any experience in re-doing a cervical fusion? If not, I am coming to the end of my rope.

Loucleve,

Welcome to the forum. I can't say I know anything about fusions or cervical for that matter either but, what does your doctor say as to why he put it some 'extra' bone and what he is will to do about your pain level as a result?

Whatever you do and with whom - I do wish you well.

Dale
