Scary, what doctors don't know!
It's always better to know from where your symptoms originate and now you do. If we pay attention, we all know our bodies better than doctors and you knew there was some correlation between your uppper and lower problems. It's nice to know the doctors finally agree with you and glad meds are helping. Dale

Steve, Thanks for posting this! I wish you could have stopped off in Munich to see Dr. Baumbach on your way to Bertagnoli. He very likely could have shed some light on this. (Although it probably wouldn't have changed any of your decisions.) With Baumbach, we have seen many cases in which cervical pathology 'turned up the volume' all the way down to the feet. The urinary issue is very common for cervical myelopathy.
In any case... I'm so glad that you are getting some relief with the meds. Talk to you soon... all the best, Mark

Steve I'm curious, have you ever had a lumbar MRI? If so what were the results?
FYI - My spine surgeon did tell me that it would not be unusual with the amount of cervical issues I had and my spinal cord being "cpmpromised", it would not be unusual that my nerves could now be "hypersensative". Discomfort or pain that a normal person might not feel, someone like myself could. |

Yes CP, I have. My lumbar is extremely healthy.(thank god). The discs are fat and juicy, no thinning or protrusions at all. My doc once said I have a lumbar of a 18 year old.

Had to remove all 3 ADR's and convert to 3 level fusion. Mostly pain free 2 weeks post op. 9/20/10 - I think I jinxed myself. As soon as I told dr b and dr Sullivan I was doing well (on 6/1/10) I tanked and have experienced the return of pain. My neuro says the new pain is at t4. |

lumbar good
Wow..sure wish I had your lumbar spine! I've had some odd symptoms in some private areas though had the lumbar pathology that seemed to be the cause of it.
It's great you got a good explanation of what's going on w/you and there a medication is helping w/symptoms. Thanks for sharing the information re your urologist's explanation! |
