Patient feedback on Surgeons

A friend of mine who is a seeing a back doctor mentioned the name of my specialist to him during his last appt. His doctor told him that I should stay away from the doctor or anyone else in that group. When I learned that I need back surgery and my primary referred me to the specialist, I did an internet search to find out about this specialist ADR surgeon), but the only info I found on several types were directories that show no adverse actions. When I had a thyroid issue, I found a website (Thyroid Top Doctors -- Best Thyroid Doctors in the World as Nominated by Patients, from Patient Advocate Mary Shomon) that patients posted their own comments about their doctors and picked my thyroid specialist based on the good feedback. Unfortunately, this website only had thyrod drs and I've been unsuccessful in finding the same type of feedback for back drs.

I plan to call my friend's doctor to find out why he said that, but would also like to find a website like the thyroid website. Does anyone know of any patient blogs specifically for back drs/ADR surgeons? (I live in Northern California-San Jose).

No I don't think there's anything like that for our 'backs' but it would be a good idea. In the ADR world there are a few heavy hitters but it would still be nice to know how your doctor is perceived by patients.

Wonder what the iSpine administrator would think about creating a new forum specifically designed to meet this need and categoried by state where patients could post their reviews about their doctors. If any of the doctors read it, they could get an eye opener. For the doctors who are good, it could help their business and for the charlatans or the ones doing it for the wrong reasons, it could protect patients from life long damage.
