Default Discitis

In the years that I've been working for spine patients, I've had a few with discitis in their histories, but I've never been through it with someone. I have a client now who underwent 2 endoscopic procedures during the summer and is now running the gauntlet of serious discitis (infection of the disc) and osteomyelitis (infection of the bone).

For those who are interested, here is a primer on discitis from the North American Spine Society: Postprocedural Discitis.

I'll be posting more as I learn it. Discitis is relatively rare, but as we've seen in this case, it can advance fairly quickly and unless caught early, the consequences can be pretty severe.

I'll be posting general info here and specific info that my client will allow me to share about his case on this thread.
