Smile 5 weeks post c5 discetomy with M6 inplant

Hi I'm new to this forum
Please can anyone advise if it's normal to have a hard swallowing issue post surgery
I had no issues for the first 2 weeks now I feel like I have a hard sweet in my throat .it gets worse as the day goes on.
My neurosurgeon did say I may have a feeling for the first weeks.but I didn't have any issues straight afte surgery.
I ask surgeon on Monday but I was just seeing if this is part of.my healing process or do u need to see a ENT down the track ..

Love to have some feedback

Regards

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

I moved your post to the main forum where it will get more activity.

Many people with anterior cervical surgeries have post-op issues, but what I experienced and what I'm used to seeing is trauma to the vocal cords. I experienced 95% paralysis of the vocal cords and it took several weeks for my voice to return. My voice is normal, but I still have to move more air than I used to in order to make the same sounds.

What are the doctors saying about the swallowing issue? Is there a physical issue like a bone spur or old fusion hardware that may be causing problems?

Good luck!

Mark
