MRI results done in 2008
I had a MRI back in 2008. I was referred by my GP as I was experiencing pins and needles. I went and saw my GP again and she said if there was something wrong I would have heard something. I have been suffering since. I have also been diagnosed with fibromyalgia.
I visited a locum and asked if there were any reports of the MRI. Over the last few months the pain in my arms and hands has become unbearable especially at night. Here is the report Loss of normal cervical lordosis and multilevel Mild DDD. At c3/4 there is broad based osteophytic disc bar which causes mild compression on the thecal and mild right forminal stenosis. A further broad based osteophytic disc bar at c4/5 similarly results in mild thecal compression and mild bilateral forminal stenosis. At c5/6 a left paracentral osteophytic disc bar which results in moderate compression on the anterior thecal and moderate bilateral forminal stenosis. I have been getting pins and needles numbness in both legs more so theleft leg. Any advice will be very much appreciated. Should I have been seen by a consultant when the report was done? Or is the report nothing to worry about. Many thanks x |
Hi
I do understand the pain and pins and needles coming to your arms and hands with the cervical MRI. Was it a mistake when you later wrote legs? I would think the moderate level for sure would be giving you symptoms and sometimes even the mild reports are symptomatic. I would definitely see a doctor . I had those type of symptoms back in 2007 which turned to muscle weakness on my arm , that is when my spine surgeon said it was time to operate. My MRI was moderate to severe problems. but i also had a hip replaced when my MRI said no problems. ]So the MRI are only one part of the diagnosis. Keep us all informed. Welcome Judy |
Legs
Hi Judy thank you for replying to my question.
My legs have only recently started to get pins and needles. I will be seeing my GP soon so hopefully she can shine some more light on the report. Thank you again Regards Christine |
Christine do you need a referral to see a specialist? If so have your gp give you one for a spine surgeon or neurosurgeon. I know there is an excellent chance the arm and hand numbness and pain is coming from your neck. I'm not sure the gp can diagnose this. I'm just not sure if the leg pain must be from your lumbar spine or elsewhere. Good luck and let us know what happens.

You said you had the original MRI in 2008? Maybe things were OK then but now things have changed. You should be worked up again and probably have a new MRI.

Hi Maria, I've asked my GP a few months after the MRI if she had any news about it and she just said"if there was something wrong they would have heard from a consultant. I left it at that. I visited a stand in doctor as mine was away and she found the MRI from 2008. It's the only MRI I've had. I'm seeing my GP tomorrow so hopefully will know more. Thank you for your replys.
