Medial Branch Block anyone? ?'s!
hello, i have had DDD for several years, lots of pain, only mri done. i recently seen a pain specialist he had me do a Meidal Branch block, procedure says theydid L3,L4,L5 DPR phase 1, Left side only. That was yesterday. I sure wish they would have done both sides. Yesterday i recorded every 15 min my pain scale, and i hacve to record 2xs daily for next 8 days. its SOOO hard to tell if im feelign relief cuz i hurt all acrossed lower back normally. I can tell one of the syptoms i had is GONE, but the entire left side is NOT pain free. my muscles feel tight still and way on my hip still feels sore... is this from regular muscle cramping from years of pain???
And my right side still hurts. I want this to work sooo bad so they can do the radiofrequency neurotomy procedure so i dont have pain at all! Why didnt they do both sides? Has this dx procedure helped anyone b4-how long does it last? How do i accurately report my pain relief... Are twingy random pains in hips normal? ADVISE PLEASE! |

Interpreting results of these types of injections can be difficult. Sometimes we get very clear results (like you saying that one of your pains is just gone.) Other times, you'll get mixed results. Mixed results make sense because with years of DDD, you likely have multiple pain generators and it's unlikely to have a diagnostic or therapeutic procedure that will address all of them. The trick is in identifying the worst pain generators... If you can fix the worst ones, your life will improve. If you fix a pain generator that is ranked 3rd, leaving the worst 2 in place, your life won't change much.
Having "no pain at all" is something that a few of us are lucky enough to get. Being able to have a life is the goal. Pain free would be gravy. Mark
