Iliopsaos, Piriformis, Hematoma, ADR scar?
The post ADR stenosis surgeries have greatly improved my leg pain. However if I overdo, I can still get some lingering low back, butt and leg pain. Could it be the ADR scar tissue, the hematoma from the blood clots in the iliopsoas muscle, the trigger points in the glutes/piriformis/iliopsaos?? Mostly likely YES YES YES. Or does it really matter since all could or are part of the problem. I have tried to tackle this with an all encompassing and expensive solution. I am trying trigger point massage, chiropractic, MAT next week, light stretching, acupuncture, and prolotherapy injections. I am determined to get better. Although I do get overzealous and get impatient. I am seeing results and will narrow the therapy once I start seeing the main helpers. I am even doing some acupressure on my ADR scar area (this could be pulling on my iliopsaos muslce which could be pulling on my glutes which could be pulling on my piriforms!!!). You get the picture. I am scared to do any ultrasound in this area due to my blood clots though? Anyway I am now realizing that sciatica can come in many shapes and sizes.

Hey Rob,
I'm sorry to hear you are still struggling. It sounds like you are doing (and have tried) a lot of therapies. Like you say, it probably is multifaceted especially with all of the extra trauma you sustained. I would not overlook quadratus lumborum and gluteus minimus. I'm confused on one thing: are you still saying you have a hematoma? Good luck on your journey...keep us posted.

No but I have a very hard spot where it used to be. This is the same location as the ADR surgery area. Many things going on in this area. I definitely have the gluteus minimus problem.

I've been doing a lot of exercises to stabilize the "dirty dozen" muscles that afflict spine patients. What are your concerns about US in the area? Is the scaring causing stasis of blood? DDD Herniated discs C4/5 & 5/6, L3/4, L4/5, L5/S1 Severe compression of spinal cord in two levels All conventional therapy exhausted, including spinal injections, PT, massage, etc. In appeal with Gov't Insurance for Out-of-country coverage for ADR hybrid surgery of above discs. Recently discovered that I am severely allergic to all common metals used in surgical hardware except for Titanium.
