This is the most beautiful church in the area around Bogen. It was built in the early 1600's. It's surrounded by a monestary compound with origins that date back to the 1100's.
It doesn't take very long to stop and look around... a very pleasant way to spend anywhere from just a few minutes, to as long as you'd like. It's a functioning church, so you may run into services, weddings, funerals, etc... so please be quiet and respectful.
On the south end of the monestary compound is an excellent Italian restaurant with a large and pleasant beer garden.
This is one of my all-time favorite photos. Ginger, Sherry and I had stopped at Oberalteich on the
way to Straubing. Ginger couldn't look at the frescos on the ceiling without help. It was great to see
her recover so well in the days that followed.
