Carla,

I too used to use the heating pad until told I should be using ice. The heating pad might temporarily loosen tight muscles but the ice reducing inflammation, just as likely the cause of your pain. Try them both. I found the ice to be far more of a pain reliever and am sorry I wasn't told about it sooner.
