Over the years I've had to use a number of different type of pillows for my neck so I think it really matters on what works best for you. I have long slept with a pillow between my knees and side lying in terms of my lumbar pain or on my back with my legs propped up on stacks of pillows. That helps to flatten out my low back and take pain away. You will have to find out by trial and error what works just for you I'm afraid.
