Default Maverick ADR in January 2004

I have a Maverick disc that I received in January 2004. This was absolutely a miracle surgery. I woke up in receovery and had no pain except the incision area, much like dbalkema mentions in his post-op posts. I was able to do anything that I wanted until December 2 of this year. I was sitting still at a traffic light I was rear ended at a high rate of speed. I was taken to the hospital for x-rays and the doctor said he thought the x-rays looked ok, but had never really seen an artificial disc and suggested I see a specialist when I get home. I live in Birmingham, AL and had my surgery in Reston Virginia. There isn't a surgeon in the area that has performed this surgery. I was sent to have an MRI, but again the radiologist didn't know what to look for and stated that this area could not be visualized. Remaining lumbar show no abnormality.
Is anyone familiar with situation or something similar?
I have done so well for almost 6 years and the fear of going back to where I was prior to the surgery is scary.
Thanks for any help that anyone might have!
