While I certainly understand a surgeon's preference to continue a difficult surgery at a later time, as a patient, it would seem to only prolong the suffering. The first days following any surgery are painful and difficult. I remember Dr. B telling me that he wanted to do my 4 level in two separate surgeries. I was horrified! (I ended up with 3 levels)

Isn't letting her heal for a few days somewhat cruel? Is there any welfare advantage to the patient? Is the prolonged anesthesia that much more dangerous? ...
